Sometimes it feels like the universe is trying to tell you something. The other day, it was my beverage choice. Nothing fun like a cocktail, but water with an electrolytes packet.
I fixed my drink in a glass with a straw then proceeded to spill it all over the counter, counter stools, floor, and myself.
Thankfully Genevieve, my 1-year-old was playing contently nearby and allowed me to properly clean the kitchen (and myself).
Granite countertops and leather counter stools mean no plotting or worrying about stains. Just a quick wipe down with a damp cloth.
As for my outfit? It was dripping wet.
Tip: Having a small laundry basket under the kitchen sink makes for easy trips to the laundry room. Especially if your laundry room is upstairs like mine.

What did I do next? Fixed myself another then headed up to the nursery with Genevieve, my drink, and the laundry in tow.
As I settled down into the nursery rocking chair, I reached for my drink again and, you guessed it, sugary water spilled everywhere.
Sigh. Except, in the moment it was a slew of profanity.
How I managed to make it up the stairs juggling an open container, a wiggly baby, and a laundry basket but, can’t pick up a glass without spilling it, I still don’t know.
Now thoroughly convinced I am meant to be dehydrated for the rest of the day, I move everything out of the area and start blotting the rug with a wet cloth.
Tip: I swear by synthetic rug fibers! No shedding and easy cleaning. Resolve is my go-to for getting out red wine or set in stains.

While I spent a good portion of the afternoon cleaning up my own messes, I was just thankful I have a calm baby that could entertain herself and I picked durable surfaces!

Tips Continued:
What I keep under my sink...
Doggy mat – This rubber mat under the plumbing has saved our cabinet from a small leak - I picked this one because it was actually big enough for our kitchen cabinet
Laundry basket (Bonus if it's plastic for easily rinsing off food) – I only have to run up laundry when I am ready to start a load
Trash bags
First aid kit
Extra dish cleaning supplies (ex. Steel wool and dishwasher detergent)
