Behind The Design - Banquette Dining

If you have been following along on Instagram or Facebook, you have noticed a lot of banquettes in the inspiration images I post in stories in and leave in my highlights.

Inspiration

I love the look of cozy and custom seating. Banquettes give a home or restaurant a custom look even if the owner purchased a pre-made configuration. The added padding and high backs feel luxe.

This week you voted for this leather banquette in the poll which is a timeless option for any space.

The tan leather is warm and neutral that can meld with any design style. Since this specific banquette was so large, I decided to create a restaurant dining experience.

Color & Scale

A large leather light fixture with dimmable lighting as well as an easy to clean table with some character, created this enjoyable seating moment.

A black and white terrazzo floor tile adds some interest while also hiding crumbs until easy cleaning can commence after the restaurant closes.

A big abstract printed wallpaper in teal and white makes the space feel moody and really plays into the tall ceilings.

Green chairs, cups and picture help bridge the color wheel gap between the tan and teal.

Styling

These little organic plates and water pitcher give the table top more character. A sleek and modern green cup coordinates in color but adds structure to the curved edges of the other tabletop elements.

The velvet green and dark wood dining chairs have an interesting space in the back like that of the channel tufting on the banquette.

Now Step Back

Even though this restaurant corner is comprised of mostly cool tones, the lighting and warm leather keep it inviting.

An interesting sound baffling panel above keeps the ceiling pretty while cutting down on echo.

A little view of the street adds natural light during the day and is a point of conversation.

What kind of food do you think they serve here?

Check out some of my favorite banquette moments here.
